I love to cook, I enjoy eating and I'm always making up recipes! I whole-heartedly believe that you can embrace God's best that way too! Most of them are healthy, but I allow for some that just give me a little comfort too. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I also adore chocolate! What woman doesn't ... huh? One of my favorite chocolates is dark chocolate. Yes, I even buy them and store them in my fridge for a treat from time to time. Well .. maybe even daily? Dark chocolate is simply delicious cold! I even like the dark chocolate peppermint patties. Mint and chocolate ... oh yeah! It's like coffee and creamer. You can't have one without the other!I could never say I'm someone who views food as a necessary means to survive and bring nutrition to my body. Although, I also understand that to be true. Me ... I enjoy food and I love to eat! When I was growing up everything my family did revolved around food! When you come from an Italian family ... it just happens that way I guess. (lol) Some of my fondest memories of childhood are going to my Dad's sister's house (my aunt Helen). Oh my, my, my ... every time we'd walk through the door, I could smell homemade pizzelles, biscottis, canollis and strong coffee! She always had something baking! To this day I love all of the above. It's interesting to me how food can trigger such memories?
Food and me ... we jive! We understand each other. I make-up recipes all the time. My husband has been the recipient of all of them! Some good ... some not so good according to his taste-buds. I put together things that I think go well together and I can prepare an entire menu from it. I've decided to make a cookbook. My title: "Cooking Cavelli Style". It will include all of my A+ recipes I've created down through the years. My spaghetti sauce is the best! I took my mom's recipe and my gramma's recipe and turned it into my own recipe. My family loves it!
My oldest daughter, Britney is an excellent cook too! Her spaghetti sauce is her own take off of mine and she makes a mean competition up against her mamma's sauce! I am trying to talk her into doing a cooking show with me in the near future. I think it would be great fun! My daughters are complete opposites and I love that! My youngest daughter, Stefaney is absolutely amazing at organization. Her organizational skills far surpass mine and her house is always clean, organized and tidy! I love the different giftings in my children! God created each of them in such a special way. I love them both dearly. Britney is my favorite oldest daughter and Stefaney is my favorite youngest daughter! haha
I am going to begin using this blog to not only write and share my biblical insights and teachings ... but I'm also going to start talking about food too! I guess a good way to look at it is that I will be talking about spiritual food and physical food! Both are important to our well-being. :)
Well, I'll close for now. But keep checking back, as I will begin writing a WEEKLY blog! Thanks so much and remember to embrace God's best in everything you do!
Rooted In Him,
Tracy ;)
